School ERP software in India: what actually matters in 2026

Most ERP comparisons list the same fifty features. Here is the shorter list that decides whether the software helps your school or just bills it.

Start with the real problem: six vendors, one school

The typical Indian private school today runs an ERP for fees, an LMS for content, a WhatsApp jungle for parents, a GPS vendor for buses, a biometric system for attendance and Excel for everything in between. Six logins, six bills, and the same student re-entered in five databases. When systems disagree — and they do — the office reconciles by hand. The first question for any ERP in 2026 is not "how many features?" but "how many of my current vendors does this retire?"

The 2026 checklist

1. One database, admissions to alumni. A student entered once at admission should flow through sections, attendance, exams, fees, transport and TC without ever being re-typed.
2. UPI-native fees. Parents pay by UPI; reconciliation, receipts, defaulter follow-ups and scholarship handling happen automatically.
3. NEP-format report cards. Not a template — auto-populated holistic progress cards built from real assessment data. Here's what that takes.

Every ERP now claims AI. The test is simple: does the AI do work, or does it answer questions about work humans still do? A chatbot bolted onto a fee module is a sticker. AI at the core does jobs the school currently pays for in teacher-hours:

• Evaluates handwritten answer sheets — 40 papers in under 8 minutes, step-wise like a board examiner, with concept-gap reports.
• Generates teaching content from the current NCERT books — four learning styles, audio narration, question banks, board-pattern papers.
• Watches the campus — gate-camera attendance, altercation alerts, bus driver-fatigue monitoring.

5. "What happens in month one — who migrates my data, and who trains my staff?"
